A girl's day out at the movies...
Lately, i seemed to have become somewhat of a loner... thou it's quite enjoyable. LOL~ Just the other day i went to watch Howl's Moving Castle by myself (after repeated failed attempts to try and watch with frens... it's just too hard trying to coordinate so many people's schedules with my irregular shifts). Ya i know, im slow ok? Everyone else has already watched it weeks ago... hahah... Went for the late show after work and the cinema only had like 7 peeps, including me. This is my second "solo" movie. First was Troy.
It is very nice I think... i can't believe i am saying this. I mean, after my THESIS HELL (i wrote about Hayao Miyazaki and his films, so i watched many of his films many times), i thot i will swear off his films, but oh well... haha. But the thing about his films is that it's always partly confusing. aimai is the word. I dun really get some parts, like why Sophie changes back to a shojo sometimes... i know it has something to do with her emotions but the thing is, Miyazaki never bothers to explain such things properly. Like I still dun really know what is the secret contract between Calcifer and Howl? Like yeah *SPOILER*, so it is his heart... so?? what's the contract?? Why did Sophie destroy the castle only to make Calcifer "repair" it again?? But i can't believe he made a fire so cute... LOL~ Yesh, u din read wrongly. it's a cute FIRE. Those who neva watch the show must be totally going "Huh??" right now... i mean when i read the synopsis of the story last time, i was really imagining a "fire demon" ala a flames-spewing dragon... And what do we get? ahhahahha.... and ooohhh.... Howl is HOT lmao~~~~ Is it because he inherits Kimutaku's voice?? But seriously, his voice didn't register at first. I mean i know Kimutaku voiced for Howl, but when i first heard Howl speak, it wasn't like "oohhh.. Kimutaku!" rightaway. It just didn't sound like him initially. For a moment i thought it wasn't Howl that he voiced for. I even closed my eyes and tried to just listen to him speak. LOL... Oh yea, it is him alright. Like FINALLY! He challenges something different. I mean, Kimutaku ALWAYS act the same kind of characters. The cool cool aloof kind. (thinks Long Vacation, Love Generation, Sleeping Forest, Surf Gold, Beautiful Life, Hero, Good Luck... you get the idea) To the point i dunno is he a good actor? Or just good at acting himself? Howl was kinda aloof in the beginning too (just like all the characters that Kimutaku acts as), but after a while, he kinda got funny.. running out of the bathroom half naked and throwing childish tantrums at Sophie for misplacing his shampoo. lmao~~
But the thing i like about Miyazaki's films is that, he brings you to a land of fantasy, where anything can happen. And there's always lotsa flying and a female heroine. Maybe because i am a Pisces, so i am a sucker for FANTASIES... (Also explains why i play Final Fantasies and nothing else. LOL.) But oh well, reality is such a dread.. why not?? And his male characters... oh man, SO HOT!! Reminds me of Haku in Spirited Away actually. Miyazaki finally gets the bishounen part right... ahahahhah... oh dear... tell me.. HOW CAN I POSSIBLE FALL IN LOVE WITH 2-D CHARACTERS???!?!?! Even i can't believe myself.. *whacks* But his male characters recently are just really... ok, how shld i say it.. They exude a certain something that makes them very endearing... Powerful (both wield magic) yet weak... なんか守りたいっていう感じ?u just want to protect them like Chihiro and Sophie does.
LOL~ One of my friends just logged into MSN Msgr as i am writing this with the nick "Howl "... LMAO~ What perfect timing.
Anyway, his characters look kinda similar now.. since the Spirited Away days. I mean, Howl looks like Haku, Sophie-baachan looks like Yubaba, Michael looks like Bo (Yubaba's fat baby) and there's this little girl who looks like Mei from Totoro! Not that I really mind, cos they are so adorable... heehee. And oh, our dear Ushiwaka actually voiced for Michael. He voiced for Bo too in Spirited Away. Miyazaki likes this boy ne...
